Candidates for Library Board

Janet spector bishop

A Northbrook resident since 2000 - where my husband John and I raised our two children - I’ve been an enthusiastic library patron from the start. Currently Director of Communications for East Maine School District 63, which serves 3,500 PreK-8th grade students in the Des Plaines/Niles/Glenview area, I’ve worked in communications, public relations, and fund raising for 36 years. Past positions include Communications Director for the Village of Glenview and Senior Marketing Manager for Oakton Community College.

I’ve served on the Village’s Community Commission since its inception, and was a member of the Northfield Township Human Services Commission from 2016-2019. I’m active with the League of Women Voters Glenview-Glencoe Chapter, and have been on Oakton’s Technical Communications Advisory Committee since 2014. While my children attended Glenbrook North, I took on a number of roles, including Communications Chair for the Parents' Association and Grad Night Committee Publicity Chair.

Further afield, I serve on the Village of Niles Public Arts & Culture Commission and chair the Niles Chamber Government & Legislative Affairs Committee.

I hold an M.A. in public affairs from the University of Minnesota, an M.A. in English literature from Northwestern University, and a B.A. from Washington University in St. Louis.

Last January, the Northbrook Library was one of only ten in the country to earn the Library Journal’s top five-star rating. This is no surprise: it is an exceptional community asset. For more than two decades I’ve been privileged to have this remarkable institution in my own back yard, and if elected I would be honored to contribute to the library’s ongoing success.

MAURA CRISHAM

Hello My name is Maura Crisham. Thank you for the opportunity to introduce myself. I would be honored to serve another term on the Northbrook Public Library Board of Trustees.

I have been a resident of Northbrook for 15 years. I have two daughters attending Greenbriar and GBN as well as two grandsons at Greenbriar and Westmoor. I am currently the Math Interventionist at Greenbriar. Prior to Greenbriar, I was a teacher’s aide at Westmoor for four years. In May 2022 I received my Masters in Arts in Teaching at North Park Elementary.

Prior to entering the field of education I practiced architecture for seventeen years. As an architect I specialized in the programming and design of buildings and spaces of not for profit organizations. I received my Bachelors and Masters in Architecture from Tulane University.

My career in architecture provided me with valuable experience and insight when reviewing and analyzing the Library's master plan, renovations, and improvements. I am currently serving as the Library Board’s secretary. I look forward to continuing to work alongside my fellow Library Board Trustees and the dedicated Northbrook Public Library staff.

STACY OLIVER

Stacy Oliver and her husband, Dan Sikorski, have lived in Northbrook since 2018. They relocated to Illinois from Indiana in 2011 and ultimately chose Northbrook when purchasing a home because they loved the strong sense of community and opportunities for connection.

Stacy received her bachelor’s degree in journalism and master’s degree in education from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. Stacy works for the Division of Enrollment Management at Ohio University, developing recruitment materials and campaigns. Prior to returning to her alma mater, Stacy worked in roles at several colleges and universities supporting student success and campus life. She currently serves as a trustee of the Northbrook Public Library after being appointed to fill a vacancy in November 2021.

Stacy believes that the Northbrook Public Library is a cornerstone of the community in its service to residents through programs, events and resources. She is appreciative of the library staff and their thoughtful, informed leadership and innovation. The collaborative relationships initiated and maintained by library staff with local committees and community organizations are essential, and Stacy hopes to continue serving as a trustee to explore new opportunities and develop strategic goals and plans that serve the community’s interests.
