Endorsed Candidates for District 28 Board

Jackie Earley

Jackie Earley has been a resident of Northbrook for seven years. She is a parent, community volunteer, and licensed substitute teacher in Northbrook School District 28. She has three sons that have come through District 28, with her youngest being a 6th grader at NBJH.

Since 2021, she has worked directly in District 28 classrooms, gaining firsthand insight into the experiences of students, teachers, and administrators. Her work with diverse learners, including time in special education classrooms, has strengthened her commitment to ensuring every student has the opportunity to learn, feel supported, and thrive.

Jackie has been deeply involved in District 28 through volunteer leadership, serving as Westmoor PTO President, NBJH VP of Membership and District 28 PTO Council Treasurer. These roles have given her the opportunity to work closely with families and school leadership while listening to a wide range of perspectives and helping support the needs of the broader school community.

Professionally, Jackie brings nearly a decade of project management experience with Accenture, where she managed complex, multi-million-dollar technology projects. She also has more than 15 years of experience as a licensed Realtor. Her professional background has developed strong skills in strategic planning, budgeting, problem-solving, communication, and managing competing priorities.

Jackie currently serves as a Zoning & Planning Commissioner for the Village of Northbrook and is FOIA and OMA certified. She previously served as President of the Margaret Donahue Park Advisory Council, helping oversee the planning, fundraising, and construction of a $2 million community park and as a School Governor in Nottingham, England.

Jackie is committed to bringing thoughtful leadership, fiscal responsibility, transparency, and collaboration to the District 28 School Board, with a focus on keeping students at the center of every decision.

Whitney Goldin

My name is Whitney Goldin, and I am honored to have been recommended by the Northbrook Caucus to serve on the District 28 School Board. My family moved to Northbrook three years ago because of the incredible schools, and I am grateful to now have two children at Meadowbrook Elementary.

I was a litigator for almost a decade, handling complex cases, including representing various school districts. My legal career taught me how to navigate challenging issues, evaluate competing perspectives, ask thoughtful questions, and make decisions grounded in facts and sound judgment.

I now work at the University of Chicago Law School, where I continue to apply my legal background while working in higher education and gaining a broader perspective on the educational landscape. I believe this experience, combined with my time as a current District 28 Board member, allows me to bring both a professional and personal perspective to the work of our district.

Service to others has also been an important part of my life outside of my career. For the past five years, I have volunteered and helped raise funds on a national level for organizations dedicated to pancreatic cancer research and support. That experience has reinforced for me the importance of giving back, bringing people together around a common cause, and using my time and skills to make a meaningful difference.

As a current member of the District 28 Board of Education, I am committed to thoughtful, responsible decision-making and to maintaining a strong focus on student well-being and academic excellence. I want to help ensure that District 28 continues to be a place where every student can thrive and that the district remains responsive to the needs of all residents, both those with children in our schools and those without.

I see school board service as an opportunity to give back to the community we call home. I am grateful for the opportunity to continue serving District 28 and appreciate your consideration.

Mara Silver-Schack

I have been honored to serve on the District 28 School Board since 2019, currently as Board president. I am seeking a third and final term to see through several important initiatives. One is Build 28, the $95 million construction and renovation project involving all four of our schools. I want to continue providing strong Board oversight to ensure our community's tax dollars are used responsibly and that these facilities meet the long-term needs of our students, teachers, staff and community. I also want to continue strong oversight of the superintendent, arguably the board's most important responsibility.

Additionally I plan to continue preparing the next generation of Board leaders. I’m proud of the culture of consensus and Board involvement I have helped foster. We make a real effort to listen to every perspective before making decisions. That is the kind of leadership I believe in: listening, collaborating, and keeping the best interests of our students and community at the center of our decisions.

I bring the perspectives of an educator, parent, and community member to my Board service. I hold a degree in music education and began my teaching career at a Chicago public high school for students with special needs. I now teach music at one of the most diverse school districts in Lake County, working with students from a wide range of backgrounds, abilities, and experiences.

My experience in education directly informs my work on the Board. As a teacher, I understand the day-to-day realities of the classroom, the importance of supporting teachers and staff, and the many factors that influence student learning and well-being. I consider how Board decisions will affect not only district-wide goals and budgets, but also the students and educators who experience their impact firsthand. I believe this perspective is particularly valuable, and if elected to a third term, I would be the only educator serving on the Board.

My husband and I have called Northbrook home for nearly 14 years and are raising our three children here. Our daughters attend Northbrook Junior High and our son attends Glenbrook North High School. Throughout my Board service, I have made a point of serving on nearly every Board committee and participating in a variety of district initiatives, giving me a broad understanding of the district’s work from multiple perspectives. This includes representing District 28 on the True North Educational Cooperative Leadership Council and working collaboratively with district administration and staff on the most recent collective bargaining agreement, reaching an agreement on compensation, working conditions, and other important priorities.

I would be honored to utilize my experience and continue this work for one final term.

Adam Weinstock

My name is Adam Weinstock and I am honored to be considered for a second term on the District 28 School Board. I grew up in Northbrook and have lived here for the last eleven years. We have three children in the district and are heavily invested in the success of the schools and the community.

After graduating from Glenbrook North, I attended University of Illinois where I obtained a CPA and graduated with a degree in accounting. After a stint as an accountant, I attended University of Chicago Law School and the Chicago Booth School of Business, where I received a joint JD/MBA degree. I have spent the last 18 years practicing corporate and transactional law at Faegre Drinker Biddle & Reath, where I am a partner and head of the M&A practice area. A significant part of my practice involves counseling for-profit and non-profit boards on their responsibilities and best practices.

I was first elected to the District 28 School Board in 2023 and have been the vice president of the Board since 2025. During my term, I have participated in many initiatives, including the bond referendum and ongoing construction projects, improved financial and governance oversight, implementation of the new strategic plan, a restructuring of the District’s special needs cooperative, and ongoing oversight of technology and the academic and social/emotional needs of students. District 28 has done a tremendous job of meeting the needs of its students in an evolving environment, and I look forward to helping continue that success.
