The Northbrook Caucus was founded in 1952 by the League of Women Voters. The Northbrook Caucus has upheld the principles of offering the community an independent, transparent, and nonpartisan process for endorsing the most qualified candidates for our Village Board, Park Board, Library Board, and school boards, ensuring they represent the interests of the entire community.
The Northbrook Caucus seeks, vets and nominates residents for placement on local election ballots as “Caucus” candidates for Village wide offices of Village President, Village Board Trustee, Village Clerk, Park Board Commissioner, Library Board Trustee and Districts 27 and 28 School Board members. The process the Northbrook Caucus follows for selecting and endorsing candidates is illustrated below:
Applications for all endorsed candidates are available at the following links: Village Board, Park Board, Library Board, District 27, District 28.
The Northbrook Caucus is led by its Leadership Team, which includes a Chair, Secretary, Treasurer, 6 sub-committee Chairs, and 39 sub-committee members.
Residents who embrace community service as their civic responsibility and wish to volunteer are encouraged to become members of the Northbrook Caucus. There are several ways to participate, which include, participating in our Town Hall meeting, serving on subcommittees, helping us manage our operations, and supporting our endorsed candidates.
Participating in the Northbrook Caucus is an excellent way to meet fellow residents interested in serving our community, to better understand the issues facing Northbrook and to have a positive impact on the operation of Village government.
All Northbrook registered voters are eligible to serve on the Caucus Committee and new members are chosen by mail-in ballots (Caucus Connection) sent in March each year to all Lake Forest households.
Rules governing the Northbrook Caucus are found here: Northbrook Caucus By-Laws.
